Career Overview
Hamill currently holds a position in Institutional Coverage at FalconX, a digital assets prime brokerage with offices in San Mateo, California, and New York. In his role, he covers systematic and discretionary accounts, with client personas including hedge funds, family offices, and other dealers.
Prior to joining FalconX, Hamill was a Director of Institutional Loan Originations at Genesis, a digital assets prime broker based in New York. By the end of his tenure, he was helping manage a six-person team across Singapore, London, and New York and played a key role in expanding the firm’s lending business. During his time there, loans outstanding at the firm grew over 20 times.
At Genesis, Hamill worked cross-functionally with the trading, legal and compliance, risk, and credit teams to originate loans. One of the team’s key achievements was increasing the number of clients fivefold and quadrupling revenue within two years. He also played a critical role in improving the customer experience by designing and implementing a scalable workflow that reduced repetitive processes and significantly enhanced the firm’s overall efficiency.
Earlier in his career, Hamill worked on the portfolio and algorithmic trading desk at Sanford C. Bernstein. In this role, he provided trading coverage for North American asset managers, overseeing trades across various strategies and clients, including hedge funds, pension funds, and quant funds. During his time there, he executed trades ranging from several million to several hundred million for well-known asset managers.
During his eight-year tenure with Credit Suisse, Hamill held various roles of increasing responsibility. As Vice President of the International Program Trading Desk, he managed the execution of non-dollar portfolio trades for global asset managers, coordinating with teams across Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, London, and Latin America. He developed a process to streamline and execute large foreign exchange transactions for clients with hedging needs for their non-dollar portfolios.
In 2012, Hamill spent time in Hong Kong covering the firm’s top foreign exchange account. This international experience deepened his understanding of Asia-Pacific equity markets and provided him with first-hand insight into the region’s market microstructure.
